My first Asiatic lily opened yesterday. I think I traumatized them last fall, when I disturbed them while cleaning out the bed. I was digging up annuals that had been growing close by and when I turned over some of my lily bulbs I almost screamed. Now they didn't grow as tall this year, and the blooms are not as big as in past years. I sure hope they recover and go back to normal next year. Of course, even moreso, I hope I don't bother them this fall... I was careful not to put any annuals in too close proximity to them this spring. But, despite all the trauma I inflicted on them, they are still beautiful, I think.
