Clematis: Can you help me determine what kind of clematis this is?, 1 by wyndesnow

I would like to prune it to train it onto a trellis (or 2 or 3) because as you will see from the picture, it became unruly last year. When we moved into the house in March 06, the vines from the previous year was there, we did nothing with them unsure of what type it was. The new growth entwined itself on the old growth but the new growth came from the ground. It did not flower last year (only 2 small pinkish flowers). My husband wants me to cut it down because I was outside everyday last summer making sure that during the night it had not grown into the patio furniture.
