Do not water and make sure they get nice and dry with plenty of sun. Leon, just trying to get rid of some extra iris here and addict others with my passion. Just a few iris in the garden can make spring a wonderful experience. All I ask is that all of you share with your friends and family in a few years. I plant mine with good distance away from daylilies so the iris can stay dry & have free flowing air in the summer. I mulch alll the plants except for the iris. I do not water. If you are in an area where you need to water, planting with other drought plants like you mentioned : coneflowers, salvias, coreopsis etc works too.
