Jazz, LOVE the red! I always believe white walls are an unfinshed canvas waiting for color. My Mom resisted for years, said white was so clean and fresh. Then she finally had her rooms painted although in very soft warm hues and what a difference, like you said, it added so much warmth and made the rooms feel finished, even enhanced the furniture and decorations.
