It crawled on me at night that’s why i had to knock out its lights.. it should be nocturnal.

Hi ALL, I am new here and wanted to join a gardening community this just gives me incentive. Can you identify this bug for me? I can’t say it’s a centipede because it has only 2 legs from what I’ve seen. It isn’t more than an inch long and less than half an inch wide. Sort of brownish-tan. If it was a centipide venom would have struck me like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UROVfmY3NTA !

I want to know is it safe and could it keep away other harmful bugs? In other words should I let it go next time.

It happened in my home and I am a very light sleeper so I have been known to wake up and kill a bug if it dares. I am wary because NYC has plenty of bedbugs, I’ve had them before and I’ve been itching hopefully from mosquitoes. And I have a hard time sleeping if I don’t have a solid peace of mind.

These were the best pics i could take in an instance with my phone.

Thanks for reading.
