We never gave them special care. They were maintained at five feet tall and were approximately four feet across. The gardener would prune them as a hedgerow each week. Yes, the birds like to nest and eat the fruit. Snakes like the birds and eggs. Turtles dig in the sandy soil below the shrubs to lay eggs. As kids, we used to have cherry bomb and rubberband sling fights with the ripe fruit. We didn't have snowballs. :)

Your garden is so containerized. It must be a lot of work to maintain such an organized collection in a warm climate.
That sounds really great!

It is a rooftop garden so it has to be containerised ... don\'t want roots breaking through my dad\'s study-room ceiling! It isn\'t that much work as the garden\'s style is quite organic and jungly. I just let them grow any way they like, pruning when things get too crazy. But they do require daily watering in the hot season, which I quite enjoy. My dad said soon I\'m going to be looking for more garden space!

Here\'s a cherry haul and some Ciku\'s.
