I recently bought a Juniper bush (Juniperus chinensis ‘Pyramidalis’), with some leaf dieback, I was wondering what could be causing this, whether it could be a fungal/insect infection or over or under watering. The soil it came in was moist, not overly wet, some of the dead leaves appear to have little black spots, about 1mm across, could this be scale insects, or some kind of fungus? This can be seen in the pictures. All the other plants of this type in the store had the same problem. The dead leaves/branches are mostly confined to the bottom half of the plant.
