My neighbors have vacant lots that they mow infrequently, so their weed seeds were a constant battle. Since putting up the fence, it is not as much a problem. I haven't used Preen but I keep threatening to. I've been focusing instead on covering every inch of my property with the plants I want to keep weeds from really having a chance to grow. In beds that are crowded, I don't have many weeds to contend with. But in new beds that I haven't filled yet, I still get weeds.
