If you choose a hight, never let your tree grow higher than that. That is done eighter by pinching constantly ( what I do) or pruning 2x a year; once in summer to restrict feeding the roots and once after they are dormant to prune back to desired hight. If you fear you might prune off fruiting spurs, that last pruning can wait until the tree sets buds for blooming. That way you see what kind of buds you are cutting. Christie |
