I found some growing wild by the pond on the edge of the woods. I, too, am in 8a. The Spigelia received morning high sun with shade in the afternoon. Our soil is a sandy, clay base and these plants prefers a moister area.

I dug it up as we had our pond enlarged and the spillway was changing. I potted them and hope to replant in a suitable spot. I wasn't smart enough to harvest any seed last summer. This was a wildflower plant. I love it!
