I do not think I was brave enough when cutting back last year . For demonstration purposes-In front is Butterfly who has decided to sprawl. The one in back is a V. Peach that is trained into a three branched tree. How far back should they be pruned? Butterfly will lose several limbs in an effort to encourge her to go upward. She was a less that 3 footer in May of this year and has been pruned once since. How close to the ground should she be trimmed? Do I take the tree back to the 3 main branches? The difference in the leaf size of these two plants is amazing. They are treated exactly the same. I am thinking chainsaw for anything over 10 feet, lol!! Edited to ask: Just how close together can/should I put them if they are in ground year round? This message was edited Sep 20, 2005 3:38 PM |
