This is the female with a reddish brown face, the male's face is yellow.

Distinguishing marks are the two yellow patches at base of thorax, and a yellow encircled mark in front of the wing joint.

The male, delving into Forget-me-not flowers. The first two yellow abdominal bands are clearly broken on this species.

The male, with no yellow spots on the base of the thorax. The opposite to N. goodeniana where the male has yellow spots and females do not.
