These impressive creatures should be treated with respect. They are usually very secretive, coming out only at night and can move like lightning. They sometimes wander into houses and then hide in a dark place when it gets light.
They don't harm plants and eat many pest insects. Try not to harm them as they are becoming rare in many places. If you do find one indoors just let it escape out of the door.

This centipede is relatively common in theTexas panhandle. It invades houses and has been known to bite individuals, though no reportsof serious after effects are known.
